12k Carbon Fiber Cloth: Specifications, Application Scope, and Construction Process

  1.Specifications

12k carbon fiber cloth is a unidirectional carbon fiber reinforcement product woven from 12K carbon fiber filaments. When discussing 12K carbon fiber cloth, the "K" in its name is crucial. The "K" represents the number of filaments in the bundle; 1k contains 1000 carbon filaments, while 12k represents 12000 carbon filaments. 12k carbon fiber cloth is primarily available in two thicknesses: 0.111mm (200g) and 0.167mm (300g), with widths ranging from 100mm, 150mm, 200mm, 300mm, and 500mm. Other widths and special specifications can also be customized.

  2.Product Performance

12K carbon fiber cloth boasts high strength, low density, and thinness, essentially adding no weight or cross-sectional dimensions to the reinforced components. It has a wide range of applications, suitable for reinforcement and repair of various structural types and shapes, including buildings, bridges, and tunnels, as well as seismic strengthening and joint reinforcement. Construction is convenient, requiring no large machinery or equipment, no wet work, no open flame, and no on-site fixed facilities, minimizing site requirements and maximizing efficiency. Its high durability, as it does not rust, makes it ideal for use in highly acidic, alkaline, saline, and atmospheric corrosive environments.

 3.Application Scope

12k carbon fiber cloth is bonded to concrete components using a matching impregnating adhesive. It is widely applicable to the reinforcement and repair of various structural types and components, such as beams, slabs, columns, roof trusses, bridge piers, bridges, cylindrical structures, and shell structures. It is suitable for strengthening and seismic retrofitting of concrete, masonry, and timber structures in port engineering and water conservancy and hydropower projects, and is particularly suitable for reinforcing complex structures with curved surfaces and joints.

 4.Details

It is generally recommended to ensure that the strength of the base concrete is above C15 to guarantee the construction effect of the 12K carbon fiber cloth. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to controlling the temperature and humidity conditions during construction. The ideal temperature is 5-35℃, and the relative humidity should be kept below 70%.

 5.Construction Process

  • Treat the substrate

  • Prepare the carbon fiber impregnation adhesive;

  • Cut 12k carbon fiber cloth;

  • Apply the carbon fiber impregnation adhesive;

  •  Attach the cut 12k carbon fiber cloth to the concrete;

  • Apply a second coat of carbon fiber impregnation adhesive;

  • Allow to cure.
